“Sugarless” can be just as satisfying

If you have a sweet tooth but can’t stomach sugar, load up on fruits instead. These sweet treats skip the sugar but are still a delicious finish to any meal.

Healthy Banana CookiesTasty homemade chocolate biscuits, milk cup on background

(Makes 40 cookies)

Ingredients

3 ripe bananas

2 cups rolled oats

1 cup raisins or cranberries

1/3 cup vegetable oil

1 tsp vanilla extract

1 tsp cinnamon

Directions

  1. Preheat oven to 175°C.
  2. In a large bowl, mash the bananas. Stir in oats, dates, oil and vanilla. Mix well and let it sit for 15 minutes. Drop teaspoonfuls of mixture onto an ungreased cookie sheet.
  3. Bake for 20 minutes in preheated oven, or until lightly browned.

Tropical Fruit Pops

(Makes 12 pops)Colourful Fruit Ice Jolly

Ingredients

2 large mangoes, chopped

1 cup pineapple, chopped into chunks

1 medium banana, sliced

Juice of one medium orange (about 1/3 cup)

1/4 tsp ground ginger

Directions

  1. In a blender or food processor, mix mangoes, pineapple, banana, orange juice and ginger. Blend till smooth.
  2. Pour the mixture into 12 plastic cups or freezer pop molds. Cover with foil – make a slit in each foil to stick the wooden skewers through. Freeze for three hours or until firm.
