First Impressions Count

Transform your look, transform your life

Have you ever gone for a job interview looking sloppy? Well, most of us would dress up in a suit and ensure our hair looks neat and tidy when 9678630_xlthe day comes for us to present ourselves in front of our potential boss! After all, an attractive face is always a great impression for any business.

In an article on LinkedIn, Bernard Marr, a bestselling author, keynote speaker and consultant in strategy, performance management, analytics, KPIs and big data, says, “Beautiful people, both men and women, tend to earn more than those with average looks. They also get hired sooner, get promoted quicker, sell more, and even get a bank loan more easily than their less attractive counterparts.”

Economics professor Daniel S. Hamermesh, author of Beauty Pays: Why Attractive People are More Successful, agrees and has evidence to show very convincingly that beautiful people earn a higher salary than average lookers. He also shows that good looking individuals are employed sooner, get promoted more quickly, and tend to have higher ranking jobs in companies. His work also confirms that attractive employees tend to bring in more money for their companies, and therefore will be seen as more successful.

Create a Great First Impression

Did you know that people make judgements about each other within the first minute of meeting?

Respect, confidence and self-empowerment can all start with your diligence in grooming. Looking alert and well-groomed when you step in for that interview says a lot about you in just those first few seconds. Let’s face it, although what’s on the inside does count, what’s on the outside can be just as important. Create a positive, lasting first impression with these three important tips:

Many of us would love to have defined contours or a V-shape face. However, as we age, our skin loses collagen, and wrinkles and lines can surface as a result of this loss of volume. Having a V-shape face simply means elongating the chin by lifting your lower face. This can be done via a minimally invasive procedure such as Three-Dimensional Facelift which combines Botulinum Toxin A with fillers. The Botulinum Toxin A injection relaxes wrinkles and lines caused by muscle contraction, while fillers help to further stimulate your body’s own production of collagen to address facial volume loss.

Other non-invasive treatments that make use of focused ultrasound and unipolar radio frequency are also available for your consideration. These help to break down fats and tighten the skin round the jawline. You will end up with a balanced and symmetrical face, making you look younger.

2. Brighten and Lighten Dull Skin 17347724_l
Does your skin look dull and opaque? Many people desire fair skin. They want their skin to glow because culturally, a fair complexion is thought to be more attractive or noble. There are various ways to stay fair, such as via cosmetic products or ingredients that contain Vitamin C, which helps to repair damage from the sun and free radicals, in turn brightening and lightening skin.

Machine treatments such as lasers treatments use light and heat energy to lighten pigmentation, and reduce the appearance of fine lines, wrinkles and skin irregularities such as pimples and enlarged pores.

Other options include oral products which contain phytoene and phytofluene, that absorb ultraviolet radiation and protect the skin from sun exposure whilst reducing existing pigmentation. They also inhibit the formation of additional melanin. They are super anti-oxidants that protect against free radical damage by environmental aggressors. There are also oral sunscreens that contain polypodium leucotomos and may protect your skin from ultraviolet damage as well as lower the possibility of sunburn.

It may be important to show your potential recruiter that you are a very hardworking employee, but the last thing you want is for them to be interviewing someone with ‘panda’ eyes. Transform those tired eyes and soothe delicate under-eye areas with treatments that use infrared light and radio frequency to tighten and firm skin around the eye area, lighten dark circles, calm puffiness and minimise fine lines.

Remember, she who is well prepared has half the battle won! If you are worried about whether you have the time or if you are going to look drastically different, relax – many of these treatments are lunch-time ‘quick fixes’ as there’s little or no downtime.
