Question of the month: Share with us your tips to keep your face looking fresh and youthful!HZYHealth (Sunrider Oi-Lin Skin Care)

November winners will each receive a set of Sunrider’s Oi-Lin® Skincare consisting of Oi-Lin® Eye Cream (worth $136.70) and Oi-Lin® Revitalizing Cleanser (worth $62.10)!

After following a TV doctor’s advice on shaving 10 years off one’s skin age, I began faithfully using an AHA cleanser ever y night. The gentle daily exfoliation works and my skin looks fresher, younger and clearer now. In the morning, I use only water to wash my face in order not to dry out my skin.

I use a daily sunscreen over my usual moisturiser to protect my skin from the harsh, ageing rays of the sun, whether I am outdoors or indoors, as reflected sunlight coming in through windows could also harm unprotected skin.

Getting enough sleep and keeping well hydrated throughout the day are also most helpful in keeping my face looking fresh and youthful. People often remark that I look at least 10 years younger than my 83 years!

There was a time in my life when I was really unhappy. I was just over 25 then, and my skin condition began to deteriorate really fast. My skin became saggy and lustreless – everyone thought I was in my late 30’s or early 40’s!

I only started paying more attention to my skin at 30. I exfoliated my skin once a week and used astringent toners to minimise my pores and reduce ‘shine’. I used products such as essences and moisturisers that had a facelifting effect, and sheet masks full of ingredients like birds’ nest and collagen to boost up my skin. I also began to do IPL (Intense Pulsed Light) facials regularly to help close enlarged pores, diminish dark spots and blemishes, minimise pimples and breakouts, whiten and brighten skin tone and increase the skin renewal process for younger and more brilliant skin. After two years, everyone thought I was just out of college!

I’m 33 now, and I think the best way to stay fresh and youthful is to have a healthy mind. I am happier in my life now. Your skin is a true reflection of your thoughts and mind. So, stay happy and healthy!

Taking care of your skin shouldn’t be difficult or expensive. Following a skincare regimen consistently will keep your skin youthful, fresh, healthy and beautiful! Here are my tips:

  1. Eating a well-balanced diet low in sugar, sodium, preservatives and processed foods is by far the most important thing you can do to have not just youthful-looking skin, but also to maintain the overall health of your body.
  2. Use a gentle exfoliator every other day to scrub all that dirt and dead skin off your face! It allows better absorption of your skincare products too.
  3. Moisturise and moisturise! It is very important to choose a moisturiser that is suitable for your skin type and best if it’s using all natural organic ingredients and is free of harsh chemicals. Use eye cream to remove eye bags and fine lines under your eyes. Massage gently around the eye to promote blood circulation.
  4. Last but not least, NEVER go to bed without removing your make up. Night time is important for our skin to renew itself, and the worst thing you can do is to clog your skin with dirt and chemicals!
