Have a Pole Party!

Let your hair down and pole dance your stress away

slap_invertThere is nothing in a normal exercise regime that makes me feel less anxious or stressed, certainly not in a conventional gym… sweat dripping down my armpits and back as I clumsily work through my routine, swearing as I strength train with weights, or slugging through the last 20 minutes on a step machine.

Here’s a refreshing idea: What if I learned how to pole dance for an hour instead?

Leave your worries at the door; pole dancing classes DON’T involve any form of perverted stripping, and they are NOT run in cigarette smoke-filled enclosed areas. In fact, pole dancing is widely practised and taught in healthy environments that promote healthy lifestyles.

Dance Yourself Happy

When you are placed under any amount of stress, adrenaline will accumulate in your body, creating an anxious, easily annoyed and depressed state. An intense pole dancing session will help you get rid of all that adrenaline and help your entire body to start producing endorphins, the hormone associated with feelings of euphoria. You will be calmer and happier after a great pole workout. Any sort of physical exertion has a positive mental effect due to the endorphins that exercise produces.

Pole dancing helps manage and prevent symptoms of highly stressed out and easily anxious individuals. It adds serotonin and dopamine into our body, the “feel good” chemicals in our brains, which is how many antidepressant medications actually work. It is a proven natural method to better our moods, and to accept and challenge our emotions. Considering chemicals, pole dancing does a fantastic job of increasing the fabulous all-natural endorphins. Endorphins act as analgesics against physical pain (they block pain) and promote euphoria. Adrenaline is also released during any pole dance-related activity.

Work that Body

Forget about the tired old hour-long exercise routine! Pole dancing is how many women have chosen to spend their workout time over the past few years. It’s obvious just how much cardio and physical endurance pole dancing requires, and there are so many more real reasons why each and every one of us should learn how to pole dance. The high intensity pole exercises combine strength-based internal training and isometric muscle contractions that give your body a full workout.

Pole dancing has evolved into one of the more popular exercise forms practised by not only professionals and performers, but also by avid gym goers and well-known athletes and celebrities, young and old.

Apart from developing a strong body, this amazing regime can also help you improve your mental and emotional health, prevent injuries and increase mobility, not to mention give your social and love life a boost by making you more confident and agile! Classes are available for women of all ages and sizes on a quest to get fit, increase flexibility, improve posture, tone up, burn calories and improve confidence. So why not give it a whirl?
