Spice up your diet with these tasty fat-burners

Hot news! Chillies, hot peppers, curry powder and other spicy delights are among some of the best foods that fight fat. Capsaicin, a key chemical in chillies and chilli-based spices, stimulates fat-burning in the body. Spicy foods may also help to curb your appetite. Spice it up with these two easy recipes!

Egg salad sandwichCurried Egg Salad Sandwich

(Serves 1)

Ingredients

2 hard-boiled eggs, choppedBell peppers

2 tbsp fat-free plain yoghurt

2 tbsp red bell pepper, dicedGround chili pepper

1/4 tsp curry powder

1/8 tsp salt

2 slices rye bread, toasted

1/2 cup fresh spinach

Directions

  1. To make the egg salad, mix the eggs, yoghurt, bell pepper, curry powder, salt and pepper thoroughly.
  2. Put some spinach on one slice of bread. Add the egg salad and top off with the other slice of bread.

Fresh milk Spiced Green Tea Smoothie

Ingredients

3/4 cup strong green tea, chilled

1/8 tsp cayenne pepper

3 tbsp lemon juiceLemon with section on a white background

2 tsp agave nectar

1 small pear (with skin), cut into pieces

2 tbsp fat-free plain yoghurt

Directions

  1. In a blender, blend all ingredients into a smooth liquid. Serve cold.
