Survey: Looking Good may be an Advantage at Work

To mark Labour Day 2014 and the 25th anniversary of BOTOX® (botulinum toxin type A), findings from a local survey, The Consensus On Looking Good,revealed approximately that nine in 10 respondents agree that good looks are important at 14857416_lwork, and eight in 10 believe their bosses expect them to look good.

Correspondingly, about eight in 10 pay more attention to makeup to enhance their facial features before a job interview/major presentation. More than nine in 10 respondents are of the opinion that beautiful people are more likely to be called for job interviews based on photographs on resumés, roughly eight in 10 feel physically attractive people are more likely to be hired/promoted, and almost seven in 10 know of someone hired/promoted because of good looks. Nearly six in 10 think physically attractive people are better paid than their colleagues with similar qualifications.

The Consensus on Looking Good also unearthed just about half the respondents agree that good-looking people are more successful in all areas of work. The survey assessed 500 people between 30 and 60 years old in March this year to ascertain the perceived importance of good looks at work. It also sought to gauge respondents’ satisfaction with their facial features and readiness to undergo facial treatments. About eight in 10 respondents were women, and all who participated in the survey earned more than S$3,000 per month.
