edited Joint Active Triple & Tube_3726Triple Action for Faster Joint Relief Kordel’s Joint Active is a joint formula uniquely formulated with a combination of three crucial joint nutrients – Glucosamine, Chondroitin and MSM – in easy-to-consume effervescent tablets. Effervescent tablets are easily absorbed upon consumption, making them especially important for individuals who cannot swallow tablets or capsules. Individuals with existing osteoarthritis and those at risk of developing osteoarthritis, such as the elderly and athletes involved in high-impact exercise, will likely benefit the most. Kordel’s Joint Active contains Glucosamine Sulphate (750mg), Chondroitin Sulphate (600mg), and Methylsulphonylmethane (MSM, 300mg). For starting dose, take two tablets a day after meals for the first three months; for maintenance dose, take one tablet daily. Made in Germany.

I learned from a seminar I attended two years ago that a good joint health supplement should contain chondroitin, which is important in maintaining the structural integrity of our tissue and cartilage. I was also advised to look for one with MSM (Methylsulfonylmethane) as I had joint inflammation on my knees. After taking the supplement for several weeks, it did help to relieve me of my knee pain. To avoid developing osteoarthritis, I have been taking the glucosamine supplement since. For a good joint health supplement, I will continue to ensure that besides glucosamine sulphate, it contains chondroitin or MSM for a complete nutrient dosage.

When looking for a joint health supplement, I usually employ the following techniques:

1) Take a good look at the ingredients. Does the supplement contain what I need? If I need something for joint pain, I would select items with glucosamine sulphate (at least 1500mg), chondroitin (cartilage component), MSM (natural painkiller), and possibly collagen. If I just need something as a maintenance, I would opt for a lower concentration of glucosamine sulphate, say 500mg. 2) Verify that I do not have any allergy to the components, or there is nothing similar to what I am already consuming, e.g. fish oil and omega-3 are almost synonymous. 3) Make sure the supplement, especially tablets, readily disintegrates to allow for absorption. To test, put the tablet into warmed vinegar and see if that disintegrates in approximately two hours (does not apply for sustained released formulations).

4) Assess the number of tablets/capsules I need to take per day. I would prefer once-daily formulation for convenience. 5) Check if the brand is readily available and registered with Health Supplements Industry Association of Singapore. It’s a pain when a supplement that I take regularly is just so hard to purchase!

Glucosamine – This is one of the best supplements for knee joints. This fatty acid is part of cartilage and other components of the joints. Glucosamine helps to rebuild the bones and prevent cartilage from wear and tear. It also prevents inflammation of the joints and adjoining muscles.
